I recently was able to enjoy two of my favorite pastimes…Visiting Biltmore House and Gardens and viewing one of my favorite artists…Dale Chihuly.  Chihuly has led the development of glass blowing as a fine art.  His series of works and large architectural installations are known throughout the world.

Chihuly at Biltmore is a special art exhibition featured in the Gardens at Biltmore.  The gardens were originally created by Frederick Law Olmsted, the premier landscape architect of his time, famous for designing Central Park in NYC as well as many other parks and gardens.

Chihuly’s glass sculptures enhance the beauty of the gardens…and make all those who visit leave with a love of color, shape and form!

I enjoyed taking these photographs and could have stayed for hours wandering through the gardens.

Enjoy and I’ll let you know my favorites along the way!

Another fun event during the summer at Biltmore…Summer Concert Series…Music In The Mountains.  They were setting up for The Temptations and The Four Tops concert off the South Terrace. Wish I could have stayed for that one.

Looking back to the Pergola from the shrub garden.  What a delight walking along the spectacular shaded pergola.  Many ferns especially maidenhair ferns were planted in the wall…Very little sun, yet such a nice cool spot on a hot day.

If you are going to be in the mountains of NC this exhitbition is such a treat!  My first exposure to Dale Chihuly was at The Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas.

Chihuly is the artist who created “Fiori di Como,” the glass sculpture that hangs from the ceiling in Bellagio’s lobby in Las Vegas.
